The Holiday Moments That Matter

Pixar-style illustration of a dad in a wheelchair eating dinner with his wife and teenage son at a kitchen table. The holidays come with a lot of pressure — the perfect tree, the perfect plans, the perfect everything. But one thing I’ve learned as a wheelchair-using dad is this:

Our families don’t remember the holiday we planned. They remember the one we lived.

They remember:

  • the cookie that broke but still tasted good
  • the movie night that replaced the outing that wasn’t accessible
  • the moment everyone laughed at the same time
  • the way the living room felt when we were all together

The truth is simple:
You don’t have to do all the things to create a meaningful holiday.
Your kids won’t keep score. They’ll keep memories.

So if the wheelchair slows you down…
If the schedule gets overwhelming…
If your energy doesn’t match the season…
You are still enough.
Your presence is the tradition.
Your love is the magic.

Wishing you a holiday season that fits your life, honors your energy, and gives your family the memories that matter most — the real ones.
